Notes
- If team members are not in the same category, then the team must enter in the highest category of the members.
- The fees below are typical amounts. Entry fees are set and collected per site to cover their costs (eg pizzas), and some sites do not charge at all – contact your site coordinator to confirm.
- Entry fees do NOT apply for an on-line contest.

| School | Team members must all attend a secondary school in New Zealand. This includes a home school. | $30 |
| Tertiary Junior | Usually first year university or polytechnic students. Have not started any second year papers. | $75 |
| Tertiary Intermediate | Usually second year university or polytechnic students. Have not started any third year papers. | $75 |
| Tertiary Open | University or polytechnic students who do not qualify for the previous 2 categories. | $75 |
| Open | Anybody not eligible for categories 1 to 4. Usually professional programmers. | $120 |
