Registration Guide – School Teams

Eligibility requirements

To register as a contestant for a school team, you must be a pupil at a secondary school in New Zealand, which includes a home school.

There are two types of school team.

  1. A team where all contestants are from the same school. This type of team may win both the individual top award and the top school award.
  2. A team where the contestants are from two or three different schools. This type of team may win the individual top award, but not the top school award.

Registration

To register, a team requires an adult team manager who is able to confirm that the contestants meet the eligibility requirements, and will undertake to pay the entry fee for the team (typically $30, but the amount is set per site – confirm with your site coordinator). Note that there is no fee if the contest is on-line. A teacher or a parent would normally fill this role.

Team and contestant registration will be carried out on the contest day before the practice session.

Teams

A team may contain up to 3 contestants. If space is limited at a site, teams with 3 contestants will be given priority over smaller teams.

Team managers may reserve space for their teams – usually through TeamUp – as described on the Registration page; check with your site coordinator.
